1978 Ducati NCR Endurance Mountjuic
In 1978, Mototrans competed for Ducati in the Mountjuic Parc at the 24 hour race with a 860ccm Ducati. The drivers were Benjamin Grau and Victor Palomo. Team Manager was Joaquim Fargas. The peculiarity of the bike was that it was originally a 860 ccm sand casting engine with cast-in oil filter cartridge. The casting of the engine was from the same production line as the engine of Mike Hailwood for the 1978 IOM TT (corresponding continuous engine number). Obviously, the original engine with normal ignition was transformed into an electronic Bosch ignition. For this purpose, the sand casting housing must have been flexed on the side of the ignition rotor and rewelded for a new  ignition adapter plate. There exist no records of this at Ducati nor NCR. Which welding technology was used is unknown. It is clear that despite the action of heat, no deformation of the housing has occurred. Subsequently, an electronic Bosch ignition was adapted. This was a novelty for Ducati. In 1975, the Ducati Moto GP 500 ccm was tested on an electronic Marelli ignition, which had never produced the desired results.
